Coming to Term

Coming to Term documents my personal response to my father’s illness and death. I combined home footage (originally shot on Super 8 magnetic tape) from my childhood with HDV footage of a ritualistic burial of the objects I found on the bedside table of my father’s hospital room. The making of the film had an ultimately cathartic effect on me, and I hope that it will help others who have lost family members to cancer.

Of the three videos on this page, the top video documents the installation. The second video was projected and includes the voice-over. The third video was played on a television and is silent.
